Here’s what I’ve got for you. Not 10, not 20 but count em 50 totally awesome self-care habits designed to make your life better.
I really think most of us neglect it. But practising a bit of self-care can make a whole lotta difference to your life.
Because there are so many, I’m just gonna give them to ya straight up. Enjoy, friends.
- Make your bed every morning. Proven to give you a sense of accomplishment and motivate you for the day ahead.
- Create a morning routine. It’ll set you up for a great day.
- Read. Aim for 10 minutes, to begin with, and you’ll soon be addicted.
- Buy fresh flowers every week. They’re guaranteed to make you feel better
- Stop procrastinating. Just get it done. Because done is better than perfect.
- Essential oils. They’re the shiz for just about anything.
- Practice Gratitude. It hardly takes any time at all to think of three things you’re grateful for.
- Take a break from social media. A day, a week, longer if you can. My friend did it for a year and said it changed her life!
- Become more mindful of the things you say and do.
- Schedule in time to play. Goof around for a bit. Play is such an underrated stress reliever.
- Walk on the grass barefoot. Scientifically proven to up your well-being.
- Dry Brush. Our skin is our biggest organ - why don’t we treat it with more care.
- Connect with your partner. Before you get out of bed or turn the lights out - spend a few minutes just connecting.
- Buy a water bottle. And challenge yourself to drink 3 litres a day.
- Say no. Instead of locking yourself into a bunch of plans that you really can’t be effed doing.
- Stretch. Cos god damn it feels sa good
- Learn the 4-7-8 breathing routine
- Set a new goal. Whether it’s professional or personal. Working towards something is a motivator.
- Get 10 minutes of sun. For that much needed Vitamin D.
- Give someone a compliment. It’s amazing how showing others love has a two-fold effect.
- Take a nap. Because you take a Nappa, you don’t move to Nappa.
- Move to Nappa. Ha - of course, you can totally move to Nappa. Have you been there? It’s heaven on Earth.
- Treat yo’self. Buy the shoes, the bag or the bling. A little bit of retail therapy never hurt anyone. Little being the operative word.
- Engineer a habit. Pick one, set a trigger and stick to it for three weeks.
- Plan an experience with your partner, friends, family. Guaranteed to have a good time.
- Celebrate small victories. No small feat should go unnoticed.
- Clear any negative energy. Either through Peppermint oil or selenite crystals.
- Do one thing at a time. Multi-tasking is so 2003.
- Journal. Because, we don’t ever really use a pen and paper anymore, and there’s something really nice about writing things out.
- Do a digital detox. You know, we all used to get on just fine without being constantly connected.
- Plan your week on Sunday. It makes the whole week flow much better.
- Engage in an activity that gets you into a flow state. Writing, skiing, knitting - you name it. If it makes you lose track of time, do it.
- Do something that scares you, every day. Great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt which we should all live by.
- Stop eating crap. Not necessary.
- Move your body. Even if it’s just 15 minutes a day. Your body will be grateful. And you’ll truly have a butt that won’t quit.
- Learn something new. A language, a skill, a hobby etc
- Light some candles instead of turning the lights on. Good vibes guaranteed.
- Have some alone time. It’s good for the soul
- Meditate. Because we could all be a little more zen.
- Remove any toxic people in your life. Ya don’t need em! Promise.
- Donate money to a charity of your choosing.
- Declutter your wardrobe. It is so cathartic.
- Delegate something you’ve been putting off for a long time.
- Go for a swim in the ocean. Scientifically proven that no one has ever regretted going to a dip in the sea.
- Holding something in? Let it out and have a good cry. Another cathartic gem.
- Ask for help. You don’t have to handle everything on your own.
- Watch the sunrise or the sunset. You won’t regret it.
- Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself as you would a friend.
- Create an evening routine that helps you relax in the evening. Read, reflect, have a bath etc
- Take your sleep seriously. Whether it’s 6,7,8 hours - whatever you need to perform at your best.
